FAQs

What is a calenda?

1

A calenda is one of Oaxaca's most cherished traditions. It is a joyful procession featuring live music, giant handcrafted puppets, lanterns, dancers, and family and friends celebrating together. Often held to announce the big celebrations, a calenda welcomes guests and marks the beginning of an unforgettable celebration.

How far in advance should we book?

2

We recommend reserving your date 3 to 12 months in advance. However, if your event is approaching, please contact us—we'll do our best to accommodate your celebration.

What happens if it rains?

3

Light rain rarely stops a calenda, but some items will be covered to preserve their safety (Camera, drone, baskets with fireworks, danza de la pluma, etc). If weather conditions become unsafe, we will work closely with you and your planner to find the best alternative.

How long does a calenda last?

4

Our calendas last 60 minutes, although the duration can be adjusted depending on your event schedule.

Can we choose the route?

5

We'll help you design the ideal route based on your venue, the historic streets of Oaxaca and city permits

How do we reserve our date?

6

Contact us through our inquiry form or WhatsApp. Once we confirm availability, we'll guide you through the booking process and begin designing your personalized IBAÁ experience.

Can we include other local traditions or special requests?

7

Absolutely. We love creating celebrations that reflect each couple's story. Whether you'd like to incorporate specific traditions, custom colors, floral details, or meaningful cultural elements, we'll work with you to design an experience that feels both authentic and uniquely yours.
